Marrakech To Fes 3-Day
Itinerary of Marrakech to Fes desert tour:
Day 1: Marrakech – the High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades
Our three-day desert excursion from Marrakech to Fes departs from Marrakesh at 8:00 p.m. via the High Atlas mountains Tizi n’Tichka. stopping occasionally to take in the breathtaking countryside and Berber hamlets On the route, we’ll stop by the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, which UNESCO designated as a World Heritage Site in 1987. For more than 20 films, this Berber Kasbah has served as a significant filming location for international filmmakers. One of the most significant fortified strongholds along the ancient Salt Road, was used by caravans to transport slaves, gold, ivory, salt, and silk from sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakesh and beyond. We’ll travel via Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Africa due to its popularity as a filming location. We will proceed to the Dades Valley from Ouarzazate through Kalaat Megouna and Skoura (Berber villages around the valley). In Dades Valley, we’ll stay the night.
Day 2: Dades – Todra Gorges – Jorf – Erfoud – Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in Sahara)
We will begin the second day of our three-day tour of Marrakech to Fes after breakfast, traveling from the Dades Gorges to Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi Sahara desert. The route passes via the Todra Gorges, Tenghir, Tinjdad, and Jorf, as well as other Berber communities. After a little period of relaxation, you will take some of your stuff in a compact bag (the essentials for the night in the desert), leaving the remaining luggage in the hotel. Next, we go to Erfoud where we will experience the start of the Saharan Oasis of Tafilalet.
It’s time to embark on a thrilling camel ride across the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi; this is a wonderful opportunity to capture beautiful images of the sunset and sunrise. We’ll get off the camels when we get to the camp and head to the highest sand dunes to go sandboarding and watch the sun go down. In the center of the Sahara, we will spend the night in a desert camp (tents made by Berber nomads) while listening to drum music.
Day 3: Merzouga – Er Rissani – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fez
After seeing the sunrise in the sand dunes early in the morning, we continue our epic journey by riding camels back to Merzouga. We leave for Fez after breakfast and a quick shower in the hotel. Before passing over the High Atlas mountains, we stop on the highway to have tea with a nomadic family. We make a pit stop at Midelt, where we’ll eat lunch. At 1488 meters above sea level, Midelt is a really impressive mountain city that is conveniently located below the Jbel Ayachi (3737 m). At the conclusion of your three-day trip from Marrakech to Fes, we’ll continue to the fabled city of Fez.
